| Specimen Type: | Actively growing aerobic/microaerophilic organism in pure culture | ||||
| Collection Instructions: | Actively growing organism in pure culture in a sealed agar plate or slant. Specimen source required. Indicate suspected pathogen. | ||||
| Shipping: | |||||
| Specimen must be shipped under appropriate environmental conditions. Microaerophiles should be shipped microaerophilically. Wrap specimen container in absorbent material and place inside a biohazard bag. Transport specimen overnight at room temperature. Ship to the Coralville location. | |||||
| Temperature and Stability: | Room Temperature (15-30°C) or Refrigerated (2-8°C); stable for 3 days. | ||||
| Rejection Criteria: |
Specimens will be rejected if received under these conditions: Frozen specimens. Improper environmental conditions based on organism submitted (aerobe submitted anaerobically; microaerophile submitted aerobically). Mixed cultures or non-viable organisms. An additional processing fee will be billed for all mixed cultures. |
