Identification of unknown anaerobic isolate. Identification methods may include biochemical testing, spectrometry, and/or nucleic acid sequence analysis.

Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Actively growing anaerobic organism in pure culture
Collection Instructions: Actively growing organism in pure culture in a sealed agar plate or slant. Specimen source required. Indicate suspected pathogen.
Shipping:
Specimen must be shipped under anaerobic conditions. Wrap specimen container in absorbent material and place inside a biohazard bag. Transport specimen overnight at room temperature. Ship to the Coralville location.
Temperature and Stability: Room Temperature (15-30°C) or Refrigerated (2-8°C); stable for 3 days.
Rejection Criteria: Specimens will be rejected if received under these conditions:

Frozen specimens. Specimens received under inappropriate environmental conditions (aerobic or microaerophilic). Specimen from site with normal anaerobic flora. Mixed cultures or non-viable organisms. An additional processing fee will be billed for all mixed cultures.
