The State Hygienic Laboratory earlier this month published its Annual Report for fiscal year 2018. The theme is "Guided by Quality."

The report features a comprehensive overview of laboratory activities and achievements, a financial report, testing volumes by specialty and by county, and examples of SHL work in the state and nation.

In his introductory letter, SHL Director Michael Pentella stresses the importance of the lab evolving from its current quality programs to a lab-wide quality management system (QMS). "From sample receiving to accounts payable, QMS connects all sections of the laboratory" in support of public health in Iowa.
