Legionella cases on the rise Iowa, like much of the U.S., is seeing a steady increase in reported cases of legionellosis, a serious type of pneumonia, commonly known as Legionnaires’ disease. In 2018, 63 confirmed cases of legionellosis were reported in Iowa, up from 35 cases in 2017.
