On March 1, the State Hygienic Laboratory will transition to a new design of the Final Report for all testing, except Newborn Screening.

The new design allows SHL clients to quickly locate and interpret their test results in a more user-friendly manner. A committee of SHL staff evaluated examples from other environmental and clinical laboratories to identify which features of these reports to incorporate into the new design. The final drafts were shared with some of SHL clinical and environmental clients and SHL staff for feedback.

The new design for SHL’s Newborn Screening Final Report will be implemented after screening results for the Newborn Screening section are available through the SHL OpenELIS laboratory information management system.

Examples of the new Final Report are located on the SHL Website.

No action needs to be taken by SHL clients with the new Final Report design. SHL test and method names, possible result values, and test request and collection forms will not change.
