July 2010 The State
Hygienic Laboratory began testing more than 1,200 samples of seasonal influenza
from Bangladesh in July as part of a study sponsored by the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Association of Public Health Laboratories.
One of four state public health laboratories in the nation to take part in the
study, the Hygienic Laboratory is tracking the difference in virus shedding
between treated and untreated patients, and household transmission of
influenza.
