A team from the State Hygienic Laboratory and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed three cases of a reassorted strain of influenza that were found the week of Nov. 14 during routine surveillance in Iowa. A novel influenza A (H3N2) strain with a swine origin was detected in three children from central Iowa. Seven additional cases had been detected previously in Pennsylvania, Maine and Indiana.
