Each year, approximately 3,000 tons of lead sinkers are sold in the United States. When these weights are left behind by fishermen, does lead leach into the environment? Linzee Espensen (left), Justin Roth and Eleanor Mildenstein work in the Hygienic Lab to determine the impact of lead sinkers. Their work was a part of "Learning without Limits," a scientific educational initiative led by Hector Ibarra, Ph.D. Ibarra is a nationally recognized educator and former Environmental and Public Health Ambassador for the Hygienic Laboratory.
