The State Hygienic Laboratory’s education and training programs reach every county in Iowa, serving laboratorians, first responders, sanitarians, students, educators and others. Education topics include emergency preparedness, lab safety, regulations, infectious diseases and newborn screening. The office oversees internships, fellowships and teacher externships to support and encourage careers in public health laboratory science.
